Located at the beautiful Sir John Soane designed Dulwich Picture Gallery, is a gorgeous exhibition of one of Norway’s greatest painters, Harald Sohlberg. Celebrating 150 years since the artist’s birth, there are around 100 works which just brilliantly evoke the Norwegian landscape.

This exhibition is a great excuse to have a ‘Day Out’ in the elegant leafy part of London, Dulwich village.

Best known for his landscapes, Harald Sohlberg paintings just make you want to up sticks, put on your warmest clothes and go and explore Norway! The eerie Nordic light is so romantic yet a little menacing. Honestly, they are stunning.

This iconic picture has actually been named as the ‘National Painting of Norway!’ You could stand and stare at it for hours, it is so beautiful. Inspired by this, Dulwich has commissioned a unique installation by artist Mariele Neudecker which is on display in the Mausoleum.

We love this museum. It is charming. The permanent exhibition in itself is wonderful – Rubens, Constables, Canalettos, Gainsboroughs it’s unbelievable. There’s a lovely cafe for lunch or coffee with home-made goodies and spend the rest of the day exploring leafy Dulwich Village.

Dulwich Picture Gallery : Harald Sohlberg Painting Norway is on until 2nd June 2019. Details here
