Sculpture in the City 2021
Posted on July 1st, 2021
Sculpture in the City is the annual programme of public artworks scattered around the City of London. Last month it launched the 2021 programme with a list of 18 contemporary artists to entice and engage you.
It is the tenth year that Sculpture in the City has commissioned works to engage and spark conversation in these outdoor spaces.
There are works by Laure Prouvost, Eva Rothchild, Mark Handforth, Laura Arminda Kinglsey among many other notable artists.
In fact 18 artists have taken the brief and placed their works within some of the City’s most historical places, as well as many of the more modern buildings.
Walking around the city’s famous buildings the element of surprise as you turn the corner and see the work, feels like a treasure hunt. Pick the time of day carefully and you may find yourselves with the streets to yourselves.
Download the Bloomberg map and have a starting point, it will made the excursion far more fun. Don’t forget to think about where you want to stop for lunch or a coffee, as there are some excellent options to choose from. One notable stop would be 14 Hills by Jake Elwes’s Latent Space.
