Somos Brazil in London
Posted on May 30th, 2019
Somos Brazil – a Human Atlas of a Nation, is an extraordinary exhibition showcasing in London by the well respected British photographer Marcus Lyon. It is a multimedia project that explores the diversity of the Brazilian identity through ultra high quality portraits. Sounds complicated – it isn’t, it is just pure brilliance.
Over a six month period Marcus and his team travelled all over Brazil, exploring the most diverse corners of the country, where they met and mapped out the personal stories of over 100 people. They mapped the ancestral DNA, personal stories and visual identity of over one hundred remarkable Brazilians.
It has accumulated in this unique exhibition in London until Friday 7 June. I came across Marcus two years ago on my art collectors course with Amanda Lambert, and I can safely say I fell in love with his work. At that stage Somos Brazil had just launched and was winning awards a plenty.
Somos Brazil is an astounding exhibition. It showcased at Photo London and was one of our highlights. When it opened in China over 10,000 people viewed it in the first week. It is as educational as it is interactive, and it is an exhibition you should really make the effort to see.
Somos Brazil : Limited Edition Book
Alongside the exhibition is a multi-award winning Limited Edition book. Basically a travelling exhibition, which has a dedicated dual language app that reads and activates the unique sound of each portrait in the book. It’s worth seeing Somos Brazil, just to get the book and share it with friends at home. They will be the envy of you.
