Just before Lumiere London, I’d headed over to the Winter Lights Festival in Canary Wharf. So if you want more lights until Saturday night – here is where you will find them. Many of the installations are inside, so if it’s raining, you can still see so much without getting wet.

Over 30 installations should draw you to this high rise part of London that feels like New York City.

As you exit the tube you are met with the Sonic Light Bubble. Constantly generating new visual patterns with music.

My Winter Light Festival highlights

We didn’t see everything. Sometimes, it’s impossible, so I picked some of my favourites;

In Cabot Square there is HALO. A halo that, hovers above the water and on a beautiful night, it just glows as it reflects.

Bit.Fall in Cancellors Passage is fun. Every changing words drop down in the form of water, illuminated as they fall and disappear.

Down on the Wren Landing is Dazzling Dodecahedron. A pentagon structure that you step into. An acrylic box that you can step into, whilst it reflects wonderful colour – it encapsulates the feel good factor.

We then headed into Crossrail Place.  Upstairs on the Roof  Garden you will find Luma Paint Light Graffiti & the Helios. Think bright light, changing colour, beautiful patterns, clean lines and indeed you will be transfixed!

Head downstairs to the basement level.

On Your Wavelength.  I’d seen a lot written last year about this installation, and couldn’t understand it. Now I do.  You stand there with headphones on and the music and colour of the light is altered by YOUR thought patterns.  It is hypnotising  to watch.  If the queue hadn’t been so long I would have done it – I wonder what colours would have been generated?

Talk of mesmerising, Clones would inspire anyone with a love of colour and patterns. Glow in the dark paint circles in different colours – WOW

My final WOW I’ve saved for last. It is without doubt the Reflecting Holons. The effect of huge water drops, dropping with holographic lights as they change shape. I loved it.
