Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea| Orange Pekoe
Posted on March 10th, 2019
There is an adorable little tea shop in Barnes that has been there for 10 years and it is called Orange Pekoe. Known by all the locals it has to be one of the friendliest little café’s I know. Having first been introduced to Orange Pekoe about 3 years ago, I’m now going to introduce you to the delightful Mother’s Day Tea that Orange Pekoe are offering.
Orange Pekoe is just a stones throw from the river in Barnes. It has a lovely sitting area outside, but the charm lies inside. As you walk in you are met by a wall of about 80/90 loose leaf teas. There is something for everyone, and every mood. This is their speciality – that and baking cakes!
What to expect at Orange Pekoe
Orange Pekoe have wanted to create a Mother’s Day tea at an affordable price. There is a beautiful tea menu – that is a menu of tasty and pretty tea they have chosen especially for the occasion. My mother went for the rose tea. Delicate, floral and delicious, but you can choose anything.
Your tea is pretty much set, with tasty little buns bursting with fillings. A choice of a fruit or plain scone, homemade jam, and CAKE. You wonder why this is in capitals, it is because you get to choose your cake and eat it!
My mother devoured her carrot cake, and I went for the lush and light Victoria sponge cake – neither disappointed, and we both enjoyed our tea.
Another lovely detail to the tea is that Orange Pekoe have teamed up with Self Care candles. These are beautiful vegan, soya based candles in the most wonderful organic scents. You can choose your fragrance and have the candle waiting on the table. It was a lovely surprise and my mother loved it.
We then went for a lovely long walk along the river – you can walk off all that cake quite easily by doing a lovely loop from bridge to bridge and back again. Be inspired by our Day Out in Barnes & Putney.
