Summer isn’t summer for me without a good book. Books are the escapism in my busy life. I’ve yet to extend my passion to talking books, but many friends  love them for lying in the sun when it’s too bright to read, or for taking long walks with dogs along the beach. Me, I love my Kindle, because I read a lot at night and I share my bed! But in fact there’s nothing like the feeling of the paper and popping in a book mark when your eyes are weary then  falling asleep on the beach or in bed.

Summer is finding the time to switch off, and books can for some, be the heart of that process. I know it is for me. A nice easy read, nothing heavy, but a book to help you switch off, indulge and above all enjoy, with or without a drink!

Be it a Kindle (for the latest hardback) or a paperback you pick up at the airport, we thought it might be a good idea with all the summer reads on offer to give you our 7 picks (with of course a few extras)! Our recommendations come from friends, books we’ve read, and of course the books on our own wish list for the summer. Remember you can click to buy them all directly here.

There are some great conversations about book choices on Instagram. Two that are new to me are Erica Davies Book Club, and Rubyandb. Both love their books, so give them a follow if you don’t already.

Finally, if you do return home with your books and feel like doing some good, Books2Africa is on a mission to help the quality of education in Africa. They will take any reading book, old text books (any academic level), children’s books, to name just a few.  They also make it easy by arranging collections from your home. Here is the LINK if you are interested. I think it’s a wonderful initiative.
