Recently I was invited by Rae Feather to le Manoir aux Quat’Saison to view her latest collection and be taken around this true gem of a hotel.

Rae Feather in one word is summer. In true summer style and elegance, she produces the most beautiful initial baskets & now canvas bags. You can choose your colour stripe and get them monogrammed all at the same time. They make the most beautiful gift.

Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saison

An hour out of London we arrived at this beautiful manor house hotel and restaurant. It is owned by Raymond Blanc, and as we were taken around the grounds it is easy to say that no detail is left untouched.

Garden Tours

A tour of the mouth-watering gardens where the hotel grows all their own vegetables for the restaurant, is a must. It is a feast for the eyes and as inspiring as walking around Chelsea Flower Show.

The beauty of the scattered, yet very well placed art in the grounds, was both humorous as it was functional. I especially loved the huge mushrooms, and the odd snail along our trail.

We all had our karma moment in the Japanese garden, and suffice to say my obsession with trees intensified with the pretty willows…

Ahead of our seasonal lunch in the greenhouse, we saw the kitchens where they hold cookery classes for every one of every level of cooking, including local school children! I honestly came home wanting to go back immediately and reinvent myself as Felicity Kendall in The Good Life!

A beautiful presentation on how to put together the perfect fresh floral bouquet, led to much discussion on where to get the best faux flowers to mix in with fresh flowers. It is the new collection by Philippa Craddock. If she says it’s ok, it must be. The other top tip given was use a little Milton to keep your flowers fresh.

Rae’s summer style

Rae is about details. Sitting down to see her new collection it was all about how to take something new, a summer beach dress and wear it in town mix it up.

Sustainable & recycle or up-cycle what you have in your wardrobe to make things work differently, is something I love. It is because I am that girl who wears my cotton beach dresses in the city with trainers, that I loved the idea of styling her beach wear in different ways. It was the most inspiring afternoon.

As I write this it is pouring with rain in London, I’m not sure I’ll be leaving home. I’ll be wafting through the house in my palm tree kaftan with the heating on, dreaming of a tropical climate.

The Rae

Rae treated us all to the most divine goodie bag, and yes it was a basket, the Amy Tote. Which I have already used at my local London market. What I have barely taken off are my sunglasses – The Rae. Rae has collaborated with Alexis Amor glasses to create the best sunnies out there.

If you order them through Rae’s website you will get a free monogramed case. When I say they seem to suit every face, it is because they do and I wear mine come rain or shine.

On that note, let’s wish for better weather, says me – a little feather treasure!
