Get rid of those January blues and roll on February! A month of new exhibitions, the odd pancake race and a lot of love. We are brand ambassadors for the Love in London 2020 campaign. It is a really exciting photo competition for Londoners which raises money for Relate. Find it in our Super Seven as a February challenge. Still looking to the East, our theme for the shop edit this February reflects that.
Faces of a Queen | Queen’s House : Greenwich 13 Feb – 31 Aug. For the first time in their 430 year history these extraordinary paintings are going on public display. Alongside the exhibition is a collaboration with Woburn Abbey and the Woburn Treasures. An unrivalled private art collection, with significant pieces on display in a national museum for the first time since the 1950’s.
A photography competition, with six categories to choose from; Love London, Love Your Community, Love Your Partner, Love Your Pets, Love Your Friends and Love What You Do.
With an entry fee of £3 submit your photo, or for the first time video, and your prize will be to see your photo on billboards around London.
London Art Scene: Whilst you may despair at what is closing in London, the upside is that so many fabulous exhibitions are opening. We have done our own hit list of what we are looking out for in our blog Love of a London art scene
Scenes from the Square | Leicester Square 27 Feb – 30 June. An installation of 8 bronze interactive famous characters. If you are heading into the West End, this might be a playful distraction to your journey.
Pancake Day | Shrove Tuesday: 25 February. If you don’t like flipping, head to Borough Market and watch their pancake day races. Then grab yourself a pancake from a local stall and wander through London’s most famous food market. Alternatively head further east to Greenwich Market for their Flippin’ Good Pancake Race on Tues 25 Feb from noon or Sat 22 from 11am. Dress up & get a free pancake. See their website for details. All races are in aid of charity, so be flippin smart and get a team together!
Musical Brunch | Secret location : Brunch has been a thing for a while in London. As you know, we love a good musical, and this could just be the thing for your valentine, or a friends get together. It certainly makes our hearts sing. These do sell out, so don’t hang around.
Out of the Blue| Designer’s Guild : Fashion & Textile Museum. Their new exhibition is dedicated to the designer’s 50 year history. It sounds like a must see for anyone who has loved Tricia Guild’s inspiring designs.
Tower Bridge has a new Engineering exhibition called Make the Bridge Sing. Perfect for half term fun – be sure sure to walk the glass walk for the extra thrill on its 125 yr anniversary.
