The name is Bond, James Bond | Recently I got a huge response to a James Bond question on an instagram post. This made me think about Bond in London. This month the BFI Southbank are hosting a season for the legendary James Bond composer John Barry with talks and movies.

February comes alive with new exciting exhibitions opening after the Christmas break. This year is no different. On my list without question are the following;

Royal Academy | Entangled Pasts 3 Feb – 28 April. Over 100 historical and contemporary artists have come together for this jaw dropping exhibition. It’s an exhibition that will continue conversations long after you’ve seen walked through it. It get’s a full 5 stars from me.

Yoko Ono : Music of the Mind at Tate Modern 15 Feb – 1 September 2024. Yoko Ono’s first exhibition in London since 1966.

Sargent and Fashion at Tate Britain. Get your tickets now for the exhibition on everyone’s lips. 22 Feb – 7 July 2024.

Chinese New Year in London 2024 | Welcome in good fortune and health in 2024 with the Year of the Dragon. Did you know that London has the biggest celebrations outside of Asia? Head to Chinatown and get up close with London’s biggest carnival. Dragons and street performances parade through London’s west end and it is always vibrant and fun.
11 February 2024. Parade begins at 10am.

 

The Brunswick Centre : Celebrate Chinese New Year early with live performances from 4 traditional Chinese lion performers, Chinese dragons, stilt walkers, and a host of street food stalls. Thursday 8 February 4.30 – 6.30pm.

Notre Dame de Paris : The Augemented Exhibition. The stunning gothic cathedral can now be seen up close in London in Westminster Abbey. The new exhibition is an immersive & interactive journey. They take you through the history of time from the wedding of Henry IV to the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte to the present day. Westminster Abbey |  7th February – 1st June 2024  10am – 3pm daily. Booking necessary for exhibition.

Imagine Children’s Film Festival | With over 100 events for children from 0-11 there is something for everyone this half term to keep you entertained. If you are looking for half term fun, check out Museum Mum. She constantly has her finger on the pulse for family days out. Southbank Centre 7 -17 February 2023.

The Orchid Festival returns to Kew Gardens. This year the theme is Madagascar. Learn about the biodiversity Madagascar encourages with over 14,000 plants found nowhere else in the world. Opens at Kew Gardens Saturday 3 February – 3 March 2024

78th Annual Grimaldi Service | A tradition since 1946 is this wonderful annual clown service. It is clowns only with a few seats left for the public. However, the best place to catch the action is outside the church. They arrive in all their finest slap and tickle to salute and remember those past and the great Joseph Grimaldi, the father of clowning. Sunday 4 February 2024 at Saint’s Church Haggerston. Doors open at 2pm, service at 3pm. Get there early.

Six Nations starts on 2nd Feb – 16 March.. where will you be watching? London has become rugby crazy in the last few years, and ahead of this summer’s Olympic games in Paris, I think bars will be upping their game. Start off at Arcade Halls in Tottenham Court Road with their large screens.

Super Bowl Sunday 11 February.. Where will you be watching? From Hard Rock Cafe Mayfair (10pm – 4am) to Charlotte Street Hotel (10pm – 4am), it’s an all nighter for sure.
